Permanent Position

35 hours per week. Working on day shift, starting at 8am and finishing at 4pm on a Monday to Friday basis. Flexibility to work outside of these hours to suit business needs.

We are now recruiting for Quality Specialist focussed in packaging to join us. Reporting to the Operational Quality Manager, this role will be responsible for:

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Conduct, organise and take part in audits to ensure adherence to all relevant procedures and policies and effective reporting, management, execution and sustainability of results/outputs.  Ensure audit frequency reflects the needs of the business.  Develop continuous improvement linked to outputs.
  • Responsibility for the co-ordination of area concessions and notifications, taking local decisions (escalate where appropriate to Operational Quality Manager), and co-ordinate effective resolution and sustainable conformance, linked to the above.
  • Lead cross functional improvement initiatives and problem solving, where appropriate include external expertise.
  • Assist in any Focus Improvement activities, contributing to the team with knowledge, support and alignment of lean principals and skills.
  • Represent Quality at daily departmental PMS, contributing with facts and providing next steps with smart and accountable action plans
  • Establish appropriate hygiene standards, based on risk assessment in alignment with group GMP standards.  Implement audit schedule and conduct accompanied audits to agreed schedule, highlighting action required.  Implement agreed corrective action plan and evidence that improvements are being achieved and sustained.
  • Ensure instrumental calibration is on time and to schedule (conduct via Lab Technician)
  • Take part in writing and co-ordinating effective and replicable SOPs/OPLs/Troubleshooting Guides that provide consistency of approach and are validated and verified through auditing.
  • Provide appropriate training and coaching where required to support ongoing development and skill set of department.  Ensure effective understanding via assessment and auditing.
  • Align with Procurement regarding the evaluation and monitoring of packaging material performance versus specification. Propose, implement and monitor corrective action regarding any failures on quality. Ensure escalation of any repetitive/serious non-conforming materials to the Head of Quality/Procurement team.
  • Co-ordination and collation of local and group reporting metrics, including KPI’s, legal, process, quality etc.
  • Support and assist towards system maintenance control including SAP.
  • Take responsibility as HACCP team leader for Packaging processes to ensure alignment with other QA specialists within regular HACCP reviews.  Ensure all processes are risk assessed appropriately and effective control measures are in place respective to process capability and worst case scenario.  Demonstrate effective verification and validation, making recommendations for improvement where necessary. 
  • Ensure involvement in all new plant, process or product trials and implementation, carrying out full risk assessment to provide pre-requisite requirements, critical control points, quality control points, training and communication etc.
  • As a trained taster, take part in routine and lead exceptional taste panels. 
  • Have an excellent understanding of the relevant areas of the COM to implement and drive best practice.  Actively share best practice across functions and countries to improve company performance.
  • Take all out of hours calls (unless on annual leave), agreeing next steps and escalating where appropriate.

 

Experience and Key Attributes:

  • Experience working in the brewing, food or drinks industry.
  • Experience of management of trials and small scale research projects
  • Experience working within an FMCG
  • IT Literate with experience using MS Office (essential) and SAP (desired)
  • Knowledge and understanding of HACCP intermediate level, BRC, ISO 9001 and 22000
  • LEAN Skills with a proven record of continuous improvement, SPC and root cause analysis
  • Training as auditor IOS 9001 minimum
  • Knowledge and strong understanding of packaging.
  • Science/Engineering degree, Packaging Diploma or equivalent.
