Location: Hemel Hempstead – The role includes monthly travel to our manufacturing sites, and some international travel

Job Length: Permanent – Full Time

35 hours per week – flexible start times (ability to work longer hours will be required, but will be given time back in lieu)

About the role:

We are now recruiting for a Product Development Technologist to join our Product Development Team. This role will be responsible for the delivery of new and exciting liquids for our GB products soft drinks portfolio, through from concept creation to implementation at our factories.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of new soft drinks from concept through to launch, including formulation, trials and product testing.
  • Lead on product improvements, flavour extensions and innovation projects that enhance our portfolio.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing teams to support product trials and continuous improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Supply Chain and supplier partners to help bring new products to market.
  • Lead the scale-up and implementation of new recipes across our production sites.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, including product specifications, reports and development records.
  • Support the assessment and management of product quality, technical and processing risks.
  • Ensure all development activities comply with technical, quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies and consumer preferences to inspire future innovation.
  • Continuously develop technical knowledge and skills through practical experience, training and collaboration with experienced colleagues.

Experience and Key Attributes:

  • Degree qualified in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related scientific discipline.
  • Must have a valid UK driving licence and own vehicle as travel is required.
  • Interest in food and drink innovation, with an interest in product formulation and bringing new ideas to life.
  • Understanding of product development from concept through to production, with a willingness to learn about manufacturing processes and scale-up.
  • Well-developed communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Curious, creative and solutions-focused, with a solution-oriented approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work.
  • Skilled in using data, consumer insights, and technical information to support decision-making.
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office; experience with project management tools.
  • Knowledge of beverage formulation, pilot plant trials, quality processes or factory commissioning would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Focused and self-motivated, ready to learn, develop skills, and work well with others on a team.
