We are now recruiting for an Operations Improvement Manager to join us. Reporting to the Head of Packaging this role will champion change in all aspects of the manufacturing operation, provide leadership that drives performance whilst building & executing strategic plans that focus on delivering results and capability within the brewery.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Effective performance management of all direct reports, focusing on behavioural change that will both inspire and motivate individuals to deliver results.
  • Develop a behavioural safety culture and promote a safe working environment by ensuring full compliance with all SH&E Policy and process.
  • Recruit, lead, motivate and develop a flexible and agile multi-disciplined Improvement team.
  • Set clear development strategies for the team, ensuring key targets and objectives will be achieved relating to quality service, people and cost, driven through effective deployment of the performance management system and continuous improvement tools and techniques.
  • Effectively communicates strategic plans, regular business performance updates and local KPI performance to the team and department manager.
  • Take a lead role in delivering improvement around Good Manufacturing Practice, embedding working practices and excellence processes that will deliver sustainable results.
  • Take responsibility for department level KPI’s & improvements plan – acknowledging the excellence methodologies for problem solving and improvements.
  • Identify and prepare capital projects for Executive approval which improve operational efficiencies and product profitability.
  • To help prepare and gain approval of the annual budgets for the Operations function, ensuring that all the targets are met and/or exceeded.
  • Deliver cost saving initiatives through teams, rewarding success and building individual capability.
  • Full ownership for creating detailed visibility of losses and opportunities on department priorities on a monthly and quarterly basis.

Experience and Key Attributes:

  • Demonstrable experience within a blue chip food manufacturing or FMCG company is desired.
  • Knowledge of key standards in Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental would be advantageous.
  • Significant operational manufacturing/ lean manufacturing experience & knowledge (products, processes, maintenance) within an FMCG context is desired.
  • Strong experience in a Unionised background and dealing with complex Employee Relations environments.
  • Capable and experienced people leader, standard setting, influencing, motivating, coaching and developing skills
  • Desire to drive brewery output and performance through effective standardisation of processes.
  • Ability to turn vision into strategic plans for teams, focusing on continuous improvement and individuals whilst generating excitement and enthusiasm to achieve the plans.
  • Ability to meet production targets and make decisions against tight timelines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to network positively with staff from all levels and departments – focusing on team building & personal acknowledgment of development.
