Do you want to be part of strengthening the competition compliance agenda in a fast-paced, international environment?
Carlsberg Group Legal & Compliance (GLC) is looking for an experienced and dynamic lawyer with international competition law experience to join our Global Compliance Group as Head of Competition Law.
You will become part of a global group. You will be providing competition law advice to all our markets as well as interacting with regulators globally, ensuring approvals of M&A transactions, and that our policies and strategies are in compliance with global competition rules.
Our overall legal and compliance mission is: To support the business to grow and mitigate legal & compliance risk so that Carlsberg accomplishes its commercial objectives under the Carlsberg Group SAIL ’27 strategy in an efficient and compliant way.
In doing so, we aim to be a skilful and agile partner for the global organization with the right people, coverage, expertise and tools – to consistently providing accurate, clear and commercially focused advice.
What you’ll be doing
You will be responsible for the whole spectre of competition law matters. You will collaborate with the business and management at Group, Region and Market levels in supporting Carlsberg’s goal of mitigating material legal risk.
Specifically, you will be:
- Leading and owning the competition law agenda globally for Carlsberg, by providing strategic direction and guidance
- As a global policy owner, you will advise on activities and transactions on a global level, working to ensure that first-line business operations comply with competition laws; more specifically providing advice on exchanges of information, go-to-market strategies, internal and external communications, other horizontal and vertical issues and potential dominance-related matters
- Assisting local internal lawyers with legal advice and optimization of competition law skills through upskilling of market lawyers to ensure they are well-versed in competition law and compliance requirements
- Coordinating and supporting internal and external competition law investigations and follow-on litigation
- Building relationships with key stakeholders to ensure a trusted advisor role
- Contributing to the development of our competition compliance program and conducting competition compliance training
- Conducting competition law risk assessments including monitoring and analysing legal and regulatory developments in competition law and translating new requirements into actions
- Instructing and overseeing external counsel
What we’re looking for
We expect you to have worked with international cases and would thrive in a multi-national environment of very competent legal and business colleagues. You are committed to taking end-to-end ownership by taking full responsibility for every aspect of your work, from inception to delivery and beyond.
You may be the person we are looking for if you:
- Are a fully qualified lawyer and have gained a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience as a competition lawyer from a position in a law firm and with experience from an international company or competition authority.
- In addition to having a strong background in competition law, familiarity with other compliance areas is an advantage
- Are an excellent business partner with a creative, solution-oriented approach and are focused on achieving business goals.
- Have strong analytical skills and the ability to solve both practical as well as complex legal problems, not least as a result of your excellent drafting, communication and cooperation skills.
- Are passionate about what you, while fostering a positive and compassionate work environment
- Are a team-oriented professional with a collaborative mindset, able to drive innovation and willing to work across time zones.
- Flexible and adaptable, with a high degree of self-motivation.
- Are used to working with tight deadlines.
- Have high ethical standards and a commitment to integrity.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
