We are looking for an innovative packaging expert to join us in our office Obernai - France. Our future Packaging Development Manager will join our Packaging Development team, part of our Group Development organisation. The team is responsible for developing Carlsberg Group’s global packaging solutions and supporting our commercial business in designing the packaging solutions our consumers are asking for. Our packaging innovation projects derives from costumer & consumer insights, packaging trends, Carlsberg Group’s sustainability agenda and from innovative thinking from our packaging team and external partners.

 

What you’ll be doing

Your responsibility is to be a trusted advisor to our organisation on packaging solutions. You will be driving innovation projects, and you will be running them from idea generation to ready to handover to your colleagues for implementation. This gives you a lot of potential influence and freedom, and hereby also a great responsibility. Therefore, it is essential that you are at the forefront of your industry, you know what trending is, and you have a strong network within the packaging scene.

 

There are weekly check-in meeting and sparring across the team, but each team member runs their projects independently. Most of your internal stakeholders will be located in the office in Copenhagen, and you can expect a close collaboration with our commercial organisation e.g. our brand teams. Knowing the strategy and agenda of the brands will make you a strong sparring partner in helping the brand teams come up with innovative packaging solutions that differentiates the brand. 

 

Your overall responsibility is to initiate, drive, manage and coordinate projects in packaging development of new products for our Global and local brands. This includes:

 

  • Generating new packaging ideas and test them in pilot or industrial scale 
  • Developing innovations that are in line with and supports our ambitious sustainability strategy
  • Actively participating to build deep understanding of key consumer, shopper and customer trends in top markets
  • Developing winning packaging propositions that drive profitable growth
  • Gathering information on supplier’s Packaging Development capabilities on global and local scale
  • Delivering a well working product, which fulfils our quality and environmental specifications for raw material and end-product

 

Some travel activity should be expected in the future. Depending on the projects we estimate that you in average will be traveling around 2 days per month.

 

What we’re looking for

We are looking for a colleague who is a packaging expert with an innovative mindset, that focuses on solutions instead of the obstacles, and who sees possibilities that others never would have realised. The ability to combine your expertise knowledge and innovative mindset with a consumer-centric mindset is the key to success in this role.

 

Competencies and experience we are looking for:

  • 2+ years of relevant packaging experience preferably from an international environment
  • Experience with driving innovation projects
  • Strong project management skills (ideally) with experience of using an integrated tool for projects follow up
  • Good communication and presentation skills. Ensure accurate reporting and documentation of activities
  • Understanding consumer and customer needs
  • Result-oriented with respect for quality, costs and timing
  • Works well independently and has a strong self-drive

Our company language is English, therefore fluency in English, both verbal and written is a requirement.
