We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Head of Solution Architecture to lead and manage the cross-domain solution architecture teams within Carlsberg Group. This role will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of scalable, secure, and innovative solutions that align with business goals and technological requirements. The Head of Solution Architecture will lead a team of solution architects and collaborate closely with business and IT leaders to ensure seamless execution of strategic initiatives and projects.
What you’ll be doing
As the Head of Solution Architecture, you will play a key role ensuring that solutions are robust, scalable, and future-proof. You will have a strong focus on both technical excellence and strategic alignment, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions that meet business needs while driving operational efficiency.
The individual will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product delivery, programme management, PMO, development, engineering, security, Cloud, and senior IT and business leadership, to ensure alignment with organizational goals and compliance with best practices in architecture governance.
Your primary tasks and responsibilities include:
- Defining and driving the solution architecture strategy, ensuring that it aligns with the overall business strategy and technology roadmap. Create and maintain solution blueprints that reflect the architecture vision and goals.
- Overseeing the design and implementation of solutions across various domains. Ensure that solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with industry best practices.
- Enforcing architectural governance standards, ensuring that all solutions adhere to architectural principles, security protocols, and regulatory requirements. Ensure that solution designs are consistent and maintainable.
- Collaborating with product, development, operations, and business teams to ensure that the solutions meet the organization's requirements and can be successfully implemented. Work closely with project management teams to ensure that solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
- Fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the enterprise architecture practice. Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, identifying opportunities for innovation and optimization across the enterprise.
- Proactively identifying, managing, and mitigating risks related to enterprise architecture projects and initiatives. Address any issues that arise during the delivery phase, working closely with stakeholders to find solutions and ensure minimal disruption to business operations.
- Preparing and delivering periodic progress reports that detail the status of ongoing projects, and any issues or risks, ensuring all stakeholders remain informed and aligned.
What we’re looking for
This role requires collaborating with and managing senior stakeholders, including VPs, and MDs across the Carlsberg Group. The role demands advanced stakeholder management skills to build solid relationships, align priorities, and provide clear communication with key decision-makers.
Qualifications we expect from our future Head of Solution Architecture:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Extensive experience (15+ years) in IT architecture, with at least 5 years in a leadership role ideally in the FMCG sector or similarly complex, large organizations.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies such as TOGAF, Zachman, or similar.
- Proven experience in leading solution architecture teams, including managing complex projects and enterprise-level solutions.
- Experience in working across a variety of business functions, including supply chain, manufacturing, sales, and finance, in a complex FMCG environment.
- Good understanding of solution design, including cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/ GCP), enterprise applications, integration solutions, and infrastructure.
- Skilled in collaborating with and managing senior stakeholders, including E, VPs, and Country Heads across business and technology. Proven ability to build strong relationships, align priorities, and communicate effectively with key decision-makers.
- Strong knowledge of IT governance, risk management, compliance, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience with the implementation of architecture strategies, digital transformation, and cloud adoption.
- Ability to think strategically while managing day-to-day execution and delivery.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with digital transformation in FMCG or related industries, including ERP and CRM implementations, M&A, cloud migrations, data analytics, and business process automation.
- Familiarity with modern enterprise technologies (e.g., ERP systems - SAP ECC, SAP S4HANA, Dynamics 365, CRM, IoT) and integration technologies (SAP BTP, Azure Integration Services, Boomi, integration patterns etc.).
- Successfully led architecture activities in large-scale transformation programs, including ERP rollouts and M&A initiatives with budgets from GBP 10 +million, leading a team of 5-10 solution architects and collaborating with cross-functional teams of 50–100 people.
- Knowledge of agile methodologies and their application in large organizations.
- Familiarity with ITIL or other service management frameworks.
