We are seeking a Senior Data Protection Manager to join our Legal & Compliance team in Copenhagen. You will play a key role in supporting the Head of Data Protection by developing and continuously improving privacy processes, policies, procedures, and guidance. You will become part of a global group. You will also provide legal advice to various business units, particularly Global IIT and Global Functions at Carlsberg HQ, ensuring compliance with global and local data protection laws.
You will be working closely with our Head of Data Protection, Information Security, Privacy Operations team, and Data Protection Responsibles (DPRs) in the markets. You will be part of a supportive, friendly, and dynamic cross-functional team that is dedicated to innovating, to streamline data protection compliance for the business, while embedding a privacy-by-design culture at Carlsberg.
What you’ll do
- Contribute to the development and execution of the global data protection framework (policies, processes, tooling, and best practices) and drive tactical and strategic data protection projects.
- Act as a trusted advisor to Global IIT and Global Functions, providing high-quality, timely advice on data protection matters, negotiating and reviewing data processing agreements (DPAs), and conducting privacy impact assessments (TIAs, LIAs, DPIAs).
- Manage data breaches, including assessments, response coordination, reporting, and handling data subject requests to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Advise on privacy by design controls within complex technical environments and monitor emerging trends in data protection, technology, and AI, offering strategic and operational guidance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IIT, HR, Marketing, Communications) to embed data protection into business processes and IT systems.
- Lead training and awareness programs on data protection.
- Deputize for the Head of Data Protection when required.
- Contribute to the delivery of the Global Compliance programme.
What we’re looking for
We expect you to thrive in a multi-national environment of very competent legal and business colleagues. You are committed to taking end-to-end ownership by taking full responsibility for every aspect of your work, from inception to delivery and beyond.
You may be the person we are looking for if you:
- Hold a law degree with recognized privacy certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT.
- Have expert knowledge of the EU data protection framework (GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, EDPB guidelines, CJEU decisions) and an interest in non-EU jurisdictions.
- Have at least 5 years of international experience in data protection advisory roles, ideally across law firms, consultancies, and in-house positions.
- Have proven experience in developing data protection processes and procedures, delivering training, and advising on privacy challenges in the context of complex technical projects.
- Have a keen interest in and understanding of technology.
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, commercial approach to legal matters.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable business advice.
- Are self-driven, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Are passionate about what you do, while fostering a positive and compassionate work environment.
- Are a team-oriented professional with a collaborative mindset, able to drive innovation.
- Are fluent in English (written and spoken); Danish proficiency is a plus.
- Are Experienced working in a large multinational matrix organization and familiarity with OneTrust privacy management software are advantageous, but not a requirement.
