The Purpose of the Position Sr. Manager Packaging WE is to be a key contributor and support to Global COM standards’ deployment and execution to WE Region as Subject Matter Expert.
This position holder is also responsible for driving operational excellence with improved OEE% via performance tools and packaging best practices, leading and developing regional packaging teams and ensuring cost efficiency by optimizing packaging material usage, waste reduction and cost control.
The position will be based in 8866 Ziegelbrücke (greater area Zurich), Switzerland. The required skills & competencies to succeed in this role are:

Education:
- A degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical/Food engineering, industrial management, or a related field is often preferred.
Experience:
- Functional operational or technical experience Packaging or Maintenance area(s) in FMCG industry, minimum 5 years.
- Experience in the shopfloor as frontline leader managing packaging or technical operations (packaging, maintenance, projects) minimum 5yrs.
- Preferably multicultural work experience.
- Experience with Continuous Improvement methodology and mindset: Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, WCM. (i.e. Carlsberg Excellence Way of Working)
- Knowledge & application of beverage industry operational / technical standards. (i.e. COM)
- Experience with packaging automation, equipment, and cost optimization is a plus.

- Fluent in written and spoken English
Job responsibilities:
Carlsberg Operating Manual
- Deployment of Global COM standards in WE Region and drive the agenda to make sure for COM compliance in every brewery in WE.
- Responsible for the development inputs of the Global Standards thru good practices, learnings from mistakes across the regions.
- Coordinates the best practice lift and shift process for the defined technology across the regions.
- Develops implementation guides, tools and programs to help breweries to comply with COM standards and improve performance.
- Helps building capability in the breweries thru deploying the standards, tools and programs across the regions and participate COM compliance audits and track implementation of gaps.
- Responsible for review regional self-assessment linking to performance gaps & opportunities
Technical Expertise
- A strong understanding of various packaging processes and machinery (Blowing, filling, labelling, packing etc.), along with troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
- Responsible for defining packaging operation and performance standards / maintenance technical processes (PET, Can, Glass)
- Recognised as technical expert with respect to equipment maintenance and processes, advises on technical improvements. Or recognized as operational expert with respect to packaging line management and performance delivery.
- Strong focus on Improvement of the Technical Condition of the machines and experience with AM/PM/FI/T&D pillars of TPM.
- Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements for cost reduction, OEE%, and safety
- To improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE%), data-driven decision making, evaluation of Capacity Utilization and SKU complexity, process optimization via Carlsberg Excellence Tools.
- Ability to understand and further coach key packaging advance methodologies as LBO and Pit-Stop/SMED.
Value Engineering
- Support qualification of specific agreed new materials in supply chain / procurement – cans, bottles etc linked with various technologies operating windows in relation to speeds / lightweights etc
- Support performance acceptance needs between group procurement materials strategy & machines in advance of introduction
- Evaluation of capacity utilization and SKU complexity to set OEE% targets and eliminate Non-value Add expenditure.
Functional interlinks
- EHS permit to work process and audit system development & application
- MRO process – proving / qualifying of new suppliers engineering inputs consumption cycles and material integrity
- Excellence audits – part of global team auditing plants for maintenance efficiency & effectiveness PM pillar
- Develop in partnership with packaging / Excellence / HR – standard global skills matrices for machines
- Drive Carlsberg Excellence foundations across the region ensuring that all packaging teams utilize the foundational capabilities autonomously to drive performance
- Drive Loss Cost Tree for Packaging department across the region to deliver budgeted savings and fulfilling of the pipeline for next years.
- Ensure that site packaging teams are onboarded and continuously develop their capabilities in line with ISC Academy
- Early Equipment Pillar - identify potential repetitive/chronical issues with new machines / technology (specific to project) – resolve with central manufacturing team
- New technologies team handover process
- Ability to plan and manage packaging projects’ CQV processes across different breweries, ensuring timely delivery
