As our new Group General Counsel, you will lead Carlsberg Group’s global legal and compliance agenda at a time of significant transformation and strategic growth. This is a unique opportunity to shape our legal and compliance strategy, advise executive and Board-level stakeholders, and further strengthen our compliance and governance frameworks across more than 30 markets.

What you will be doing
Your primary tasks and responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing the global legal and compliance strategy in alignment with Group priorities.
- Acting as senior legal advisor to the Carlsberg Group CFO, Group CEO, Executive Committee, and Board-level stakeholders, including the Audit Committee.
- Overseeing global corporate governance, compliance frameworks, and regulatory readiness.
- Managing all legal aspects of commercial operations, contracts, and strategic transactions.
- Leading and overseeing legal work for M&A, joint ventures, and partnership activities.
- Supervising litigation, disputes, and regulatory investigations.
- Driving the organization’s compliance framework, including risk assessments, monitoring, and corrective actions.
- Leading, developing, and empowering the global legal and compliance team and further develop the function to be a top quartile performing function in engagement, effectiveness and efficiency.
- Managing and optimising the global legal and compliance budget.
- Monitoring global regulatory developments and ensuring proactive risk management.
What we are looking for
You bring a strong combination of visionary and strategic leadership, legal and compliance operational excellence, and a global perspective. Specifically, we are looking for someone with:
- A law degree and bar admission in at least one major jurisdiction.
- 15+ years of experience, including senior in-house roles in multinational companies.
- Extensive experience in corporate governance, commercial law, regulatory compliance, M&A, and cross-border operations.
- Proven exceptional leadership skills leading global teams.
- Strong presence and gravitas. Ability to influence senior executives and Boards with sound judgment and strategic insight.
- Extensive people capabilities in a matrixed, international environment.
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluency in English and strong communication skills
- Highest ethical standards, integrity, resilience, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced multicultural environment.
- A solid business acumen and ability to align legal strategy with enterprise priorities and risk appetite.
- An international mindset, intercultural sensitivity, and willingness to travel as needed.
What you can expect
The General Counsel reports directly to the Group CFO.
You will join a global team of highly skilled legal and compliance professionals who contribute directly to Carlsberg's business strategy and growth.
The legal and compliance team is organized in three regions (Asia, Western Europe, and Central and Eastern Europe & India), led by three Regional Heads of Legal (VPs) supported by market lawyers in 40+ countries.
At Group level, we have two teams, Group Legal & IP and Group Compliance and ERM, that are integrated and work very closely together.
Group Legal & IP is responsible for legal and contractual support and advice to most of the Group Functions, such as Group Marketing and Group Commercial, Export & Licence, R&D, Integrated Supply Chain and Integrated IT. The team has strong functional experts, rendering advice and support to the business within critical legal areas, such as disputes, competition law, data protection, corporate law, trade sanctions, ABC, company law, intellectual property, Digital/IT law, procurement law, ESG-related laws and dispute management.
Group Legal and IP also cooperate with and support the 3 Regions and 40+ markets in the Carlsberg Group on certain types of specialist advice and work, such as competition law, data protection, sanctions, ABC, IP, procurement, and IT contracts.
Group Compliance and ERM (led by our Head of Compliance and ERM) is responsible for the global legal compliance programs and enterprise risk management, including our code of conduct and policy compliance framework. It sets global compliance and risk standards and processes and leads our Compass+ project (streamlining of Governance Risk & Compliance in Carlsberg globally).
