Head of Digital Workplace and Infrastructure Architecture
We are seeking a highly experienced Head of Digital Workplace and Infrastructure Architecture to lead and manage the design, development, and optimization of the organization's digital workplace, network, infrastructure, cloud, and hosting solutions. This role will be accountable for the enterprise-wide (Group + 3 Regions) architecture strategy and overall governance of these areas, ensuring that the enterprise's technology environment is scalable, secure, and aligned with business objectives.
This position will require collaborating with senior leaders, across the Carlsberg Group. It demands strong stakeholder management skills to build relationships, align priorities, and communicate effectively with key decision-makers.
What you’ll be doing
As the Head of Digital Workplace and Infrastructure Architecture, you will manage a team (3-5 including third-party personnel) of specialized architects such as Cloud & Hosting Architects, Network Architects, Infrastructure Architects, Digital Workplace Architects etc. You will partake significantly in shaping the digital transformation initiatives, leading the integration of new technologies, and ensuring seamless collaboration across architecture domains.
Your primary tasks and responsibilities include:
- Defining and implementing the architectural strategy for digital workplace and infrastructure, ensuring the solutions are scalable, secure, and adaptable to business needs. Align strategies with long-term business objectives and technological advancements in cloud, network, and workplace technologies.
- Enforcing governance frameworks and processes, architectural standards, and best practices across all digital workplace and infrastructure domains. Ensure consistency, quality, and compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Overseeing the architecture and design of cloud solutions, networking, and hosting environments. Ensure that the organization's infrastructure is optimized for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product development, IT operations, and business units, to ensure that infrastructure and digital workplace solutions meet the evolving needs of the organization.
- Managing and collaborating with 3rd party vendors and solution integrators to deliver IT technologies and services.
- Fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, recommending new tools, technologies, and practices that can enhance the organization’s IT technology footprint.
- Building and developing an effective team of architects. Provide leadership and mentorship to ensure ongoing professional development. Conduct regular performance evaluations and create opportunities for team members to grow within the organization.
- Identifying, assessing, and mitigating architectural risks throughout the SDLC and ensuring that architectural decisions are informed by risk assessments and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Ensuring that architecture documentation, including solution designs, standards, and roadmaps, are accurate and kept up to date. Provide regular reports to the VP, Group Enterprise Architect on key initiatives, and project status.
- Leading the identification and mitigation of risks related to the digital workplace, network, and infrastructure. Ensure that security and compliance are prioritized in all architectural decisions, particularly with cloud and network architectures.
- Collaborating closely with the Architecture Leadership team to ensure that all key architectural decisions align with the EA governance processes and framework
What we’re looking for
To be successful in this role, we imagine that you possess:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 15+ years of experience in IT, with at least 7 years in a global leadership role managing digital workplace, network, infrastructure, and cloud architects across regions.
- Proven experience in leading and managing a team of specialized architects across multiple domains (e.g., network, infrastructure, cloud, hosting).
- Deep technical expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), enterprise network architecture, infrastructure solutions, and digital workplace technologies.
- Experience with M365 and Entra/AD solutions is highly preferred.
- Proven experience managing 3rd party vendors, solution integrators and Cloud service providers.
- Experience in M&A and integration/divestment of IT infrastructure and technologies/large-scale transformation with budgets exceeding £10 Million.
- Very good stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate with business leaders and technical teams to support alignment on architecture strategy and solutions.
- Solid communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience with the implementation of architecture strategies, digital transformation, and cloud adoption.
- Require experience in affecting C-level stakeholders and presenting to executive boards.
- Ability to think strategically while managing day-to-day execution and delivery.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Certifications in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect).
- Experience with ITIL, Agile, or DevOps methodologies.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI, automation, and containerization as they relate to digital workplace and infrastructure.
- Familiarity with managing large-scale, multi-cloud environments and enterprise-level networking.
