We are looking for a Senior Legal Manager – Digital Law to join our Data Protection & Digital Law team within Group Legal & Compliance. The team advises Carlsberg on legal and compliance matters at the intersection of law and technology, including IT outsourcing and commercial negotiations, data protection and privacy, AI, and cybersecurity law.
This role is for someone who goes beyond traditional legal advice. You will need the judgement to know when a business issue calls for pragmatic, case-by-case legal support and when it requires a scalable solution, such as a process, framework, control or new way of working. We are looking for someone curious, creative and able to take legal requirements from interpretation through implementation.
In doing so, you will help shape how Carlsberg approaches digital regulation more broadly. Working across the EU AI Act, NIS2, CRA, CER, and data-related legislation, you will influence how AI, cybersecurity and data protection are governed from a legal perspective and help bring these disciplines together into one integrated, practical approach. You will work closely with technology and business teams to turn complex legal requirements into clear, workable solutions and embed them across the organisation.
You will work closely with IT, Information Security, AI Governance, Privacy Operations and Data Protection Responsibles (DPRs) across our markets. You will join a supportive and collaborative cross-functional team focused on simplifying compliance and embedding a responsible technology culture at Carlsberg.
What you’ll be doing
Your primary tasks and responsibility include/Specifically, your key responsibilities are:
- Acting as subject-matter expert, provide practical, commercially focused legal advice on digital regulations, including the EU AI Act, NIS2, CRA, CER and data-related legislation.
- Design, develop and continuously improve our frameworks, governance, processes, playbooks, policies, controls and guidance, in close partnership with AI Governance and Information Security teams.
- Partner with stakeholders across functions and markets to embed digital law requirements into day-to-day operations.
- Provide legal support for technology projects and vendor engagements, helping teams identify and manage digital regulatory risk from the outset.
- Lead the legal response to digital law matters, including incidents, regulatory notifications, risk assessments and other time-sensitive issues.
- Drive the implementation of regulatory requirements, including AI transparency, documentation, labelling and other compliance obligations.
- Design and deliver training to build digital law capabilities across regional and market teams.
- Own horizon scanning for digital law developments across the EU and globally, assess their potential impact on Carlsberg, and lead engagement with relevant stakeholders to determine required actions.
- Lead and contribute to broader legal, compliance and cross-functional projects as required, taking ownership of workstreams and supporting colleagues across the wider organisation where needed.
What we’re looking for
You will thrive in a multinational environment, working with experienced legal and business colleagues. You are comfortable taking end-to-end ownership of your work, from initial concept through to implementation.
You may be the person we are looking for if you have:
- A legal education and professional background.
- 5–8+ years of experience advising on regulatory matters such as EU privacy and data protection, AI, and/or cybersecurity law, gained in-house, at a law firm or in consultancy.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical advice and processes.
- A proven track record of designing and implementing compliance processes in at least one area of digital law and successfully embedding them into business operations, preferably in a matrix organisation.
- Experience training and building capability across a diverse range of stakeholders, including technical teams and legal colleagues.
- Relevant professional certifications, such as CIPT, AIGP, CIPM, ISO 27001/27701 or ISO 42001 Lead Implementer, or equivalent, are an advantage.
- Project management certifications, such as PRINCE2, PMI or equivalent are an advantage.
- Experience with OneTrust and using AI capabilities to build sustainable compliance processes is an advantage.

- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with IT, security, legal and business teams in an international environment.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to both lead and contribute across multiple workstreams.
- Confidence engaging directly with technology and security teams and discussing technical topics.
- Sound business judgement and the ability to resolve complex issues in practical and creative ways.
- A self-driven approach, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced global environment.
