Student Assistant for AI Sensory Project
Join the Carlsberg Research Laboratory (CRL) and support us in building the future of sensory science and brewing. As part of the AI Sensory project, you will work at the intersection of experimental work and data-driven research, helping us building complex chemical and sensory datasets. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with laboratory workflows, sample handling at scale, and modern data analysis approaches used to transform how we understand chemistry and sensory perception in beverages.
What you’ll be doing
Become part of the Carlsberg Research Laboratory (CRL) and support the AI Sensory group in both laboratory and data-related tasks. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and organizing large collections of samples using QR-based tracking systems
- Ensuring proper storage, cataloguing, and traceability of hundreds of experimental samples
- Preparing samples for analytical platforms such as GC-MS and other instrumentation
- Supporting day-to-day laboratory workflows and experimental execution
- Assisting in data handling and contributing to early-stage data analysis tasks
You will work closely with scientists across chemistry, sensory science, and data science, contributing to building the next generation of research infrastructure.
What we’re looking for
- Late Bachelor’s or early Master’s student in (food) chemistry or closely related
- Interest in laboratory work and experimental processes
- Familiarity with analytical techniques as Gas-chromatography, Spectroscopy, and E-noses
- Structured and detail-oriented approach to handling samples and data
- Outgoing with a positive and service-minded attitude
- Language: Fluent in written & spoken English
You:
- Are eager to learn new scientific methods, tools, and workflows
- Are comfortable working at the intersection of laboratory work and data handling
- Take ownership of practical tasks and ensure high data and sample quality
- Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with scientists and fellow students
What you can expect
You will join a multidisciplinary team working at the intersection of chemistry and AI. You will get hands-on experience with real-world scientific workflows and exposure to analytical chemistry techniques (e.g., GC-MS) and sensory science. Flexible working hours adapted to your studies. A collaborative environment with experienced scientists and engineers with access to a strong internal network of researchers and fellow students.
The workload for this position is of minimum 8 hours per week.
