Role & Company Overview

Incorporated in 1969, Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Berhad is part of the global Carlsberg Group — one of the world’s leading brewers with strong market presence across Europe and Asia. As a dynamic brewer with operations in Malaysia, Singapore, and a strategic investment in Sri Lanka, we’re committed to brewing excellence and creating memorable experiences for our consumers.

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Tax Executive to ensure the timely and accurate execution of tax compliance activities across indirect taxes, including Sales and Service Tax (SST), stamp duty, and other related regulatory requirements. This role plays a critical part in supporting the organisation's growing compliance obligations driven by evolving legislative changes, managing high-volume transactional activities, and partnering closely with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate tax risks while preventing potential penalties and non-compliance issues. If you are meticulous, adaptable, and passionate about maintaining high standards of tax compliance in a dynamic environment, we would love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

  • Drive tax compliance and reporting activities by preparing and submitting indirect tax returns, including Sales and Services Tax (SST), stamp duty filings under self-assessment, and other statutory submissions in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support corporate income tax obligations, including the preparation of tax returns, provisional tax computations for internal reporting, and submission of tax estimates and revised estimates.
  • Manage withholding tax (WHT) compliance by identifying applicable transactions, performing tax computations, and ensuring timely reporting and submissions.
  • Prepare tax-related reports and documentation required by regulatory authorities such as Customs and the Inland Revenue Board.
  • Oversee e-invoicing processes, including reviewing and submitting self-billed e-invoices while ensuring ongoing compliance with e-invoicing regulations.
  • Review and validate transactions and invoices to ensure the correct tax treatment, accuracy of calculations, and adherence to applicable tax requirements.
  • Maintain complete documentation, reconciliations, and audit trails to support e-invoicing activities, tax filings, and statutory reporting.
  • Provide operational tax support by ensuring the correct application of SST across business transactions and managing tax treatment for specific transaction streams, including disposals and sales of materials.
  • Handle tax exemption and incentive matters, including preparing applications, declarations, and supporting documentation required by relevant authorities.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams such as Logistics, Procurement, Finance, and Legal to address tax implications of business activities and support operational requirements.
  • Provide practical tax guidance to internal stakeholders by clarifying compliance requirements and promoting tax awareness across the business.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including tax authorities and advisors, to manage submissions, resolve queries, and support tax-related matters.
  • Support tax risk management and governance efforts by monitoring compliance requirements, identifying potential issues, and ensuring adherence to internal controls and established procedures.
  • Assist with tax audits, reviews, and regulatory enquiries by preparing supporting information and coordinating responses with relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy, supporting system enhancements, implementing new regulatory requirements, and strengthening tax processes and documentation.

What we’re looking for

  • A strong communicator with the ability to liaise effectively with employees and stakeholders across different levels of the organisation, including coordinating meetings and discussions.
  • A detail-oriented individual with a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work.
  • A proactive and disciplined team player who can work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • A professional with strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills to work effectively across functions.
  • A problem-solver with excellent analytical abilities, capable of identifying issues and recommending practical solutions.
  • A professional with strong data handling and reporting capabilities, and the ability to analyse and interpret information accurately.
  • A solid understanding of Sales and Service Tax (SST), stamp duty, and Malaysian tax regulations.
  • A working knowledge of e-invoicing processes and systems, including related compliance requirements.
  • A good understanding of accounting principles and financial transactions.
  • A proficient Microsoft Excel user, with experience handling large datasets, performing reconciliations, and supporting data analysis and reporting.
